About Us

Ashmoor Stud has been run as a working stud for some 7yrs, The stud progressed from breeding, showing and producing Mountain & Moorlands Welsh Cob sections C and D. Gradually the stud introduced New Forest pony and Thoroughbred blood. Later the introduction of Arabian bloodlines. Over the past 4 yrs, the stud has set its concentration on the Arabian and Part Bred. Having shown Arabs and their Part Bred inhand throughout 2007 and 2008; the stud took a break from breeding foals in 2009 and 2010. But within that time produced ridden horses for competition. Now the stud is to concentrate solely on producing Stallions for covering and competition. Our Pure Arabian has started on his Endurance career with the intention on showing under saddle and participating in Dressage. Our Part Bred x Oldenburg is an out, an out Dressage horse, but has scope to jump. |

Hayley Bishop
Hayley is Ashmoor Stud, With her experience and knowledge spanning some 22yrs, her passion for horses started from the young age of 5, she participated in Pony Club, PC camps, Prince Philip Cup, Eventing, had a turn at PC Polo. She also competed her trainers pony in Novice Dressage at the age of 9. At the age of almost 14, Hayley retrained a 10yr old, X race horse, which she trained at Medium dressage and competed in Elementary classes, ODE's and 25 mile Endurance rides. At the 15 Hayley then backed her first horse a 16.3h ID X Warmblood Coloured - still with her today!! Hayley started BSJA competition from 16 and compete through the grades to Grade B jumping 135/140mtr tracks on a number of different horses. She has also trained her own horses to Medium/ Advanced Dressage, including teaching Flying changes, half pass, and piaffe! She also trained and produced her own foals and yearlings, for inhand competition up to showing under saddle. From M&M's to Arabians and Sport horses. Hayley is not stifled by the "have too's" nor is she focused on the "one path suits all", she is open minded about horses and has trailed many different forms of training, from conventional BHS to Natural Horsemanship, the pros and cons of feeding grain to a natural diet of grass, and the shood horse to the barefoot horse. Not all methods suit all horses and Hayley is determined to find a solution for any horse. She has passed her BHS stages and is working towards her higher level degree....Although, she believes more in experience out-weighs certificates! Hayley is also trained and qualified for AI collecting, analysing and preparing fresh and chilled semen. |

Sally Bishop Sally, along with her husband Terry, made Ashmoor Stud possible! Sally is moral support, helper, driver (along with Terry), stress alleviator for Hayley, and general team player in the stud workings. her experience is also vast, having purchased her first horse, a Black, Dales x TB foal named Brunswick, 24 yrs ago, which was the turning point and introduction of horses to the Bishop family. Sally's dream was to rescue a young horse, which she could gradually learn with and enjoy for life. Sally backed Brunswick and the pair enjoyed many activities together until Brunswick passing in early 2011. Sally has shown inhand, competed in showing and show jumping, endurance and is now enjoying her Show Cob and her young Arabian. |

Sophie Leahy Sophie joined us in June 2009, at the age of 14. Being home tutored Sophie came to work and muck out, groom and otherwise learn more about horses during the week. She has become a valued member to the yard, taking care of the morning duties. Soph started riding at the age of 11 when she purchased her pony Kittie. Having helped at a local stables before, Soph got to ride and sit on many different ponies, but her thirst for the correct riding techniques and care for horses brought her to Ashmoor. She hopes to continue working with us to expand her knowledge to backing and training horses in the yard. |
